On October 19th, 2003, Hartford resident Juan Rodriguez was walking along South Marshall street to visit his girlfriend. While walking, a red car or van with multiple men inside drove by, rolled the window down and the backseat passenger fired several shots at Rodriguez.  Rodriguez was hit and gunshot wounds to the face, the right arm, the right thigh and the middle of the his back, which that shot, went through his heart and lungs, effectively killing him.

When Hartford police arrived on scene, they found Rodriguez laying in the street in critical condition. The scene was chaotic with people running everywhere and unwilling to help the police.

During the investigation, Hartford police learned a potential theory for the reason of Juan Rodriguez's murder. He was involved in a street gang dispute with a group of people at the Casa Verde apartments at 60 Wadsworth street.  Several persons of interest were identified through a photo array, although not enough information was collected for HPD to make an arrest.

Thirteen years have passed and this case is still open and police are still searching for answers. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Hartford Police.
