WOLFEBORO, N.H. — Two boaters were injured when their 14-foot aluminum craft hit a large wake on New Hampshire’s Crescent Lake in Wolfeboro — throwing all three passengers into the lake.

New Hampshire marine patrol officials say the accident happened at about 2 p.m. Saturday when the aluminum boat with a small outboard motor was following a larger boat and hit its wake.

The accident hurtled three boaters from Glastonbury, Connecticut — Patrick, Christine and Erin Curry — into the water. Officials say the boat swung around — its motor striking Christine Curry on the leg and Erin Curry on the hip. Both were taken to Huggins Hospital for treatment.

Patrick Curry shut the motor off by pulling out the shut-off lanyard.

Marine patrol urges all boat operators to wear the shut-off lanyard.
