GREENWICH — School officials say the latest report on soil contamination of a ball field in the town of Greenwich is in and set to be released next week.

Officials with the New Lebanon School tell the Greenwich Time they are reviewing the report on the extent of an arsenic contamination at William Street field, located next to the school.

The arsenic was found last year. Six field samples taken in the spring contained arsenic at levels above state criteria for “direct residential exposure.”

The report is supposed to help school and municipal officials as well as consultants develop a cleanup plan.

In recent years, Byram Park tests revealed high levels of arsenic and Greenwich High School tests revealed high levels of cancer-causing polychlorinated biphenyls, or PCBs.
