Calling hours Sunday for Springfield Marine killed in Chattanooga attack
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Springfield residents are getting their chance to pay final respects to a Marine from the city killed by a gunman in Tennessee.
Calling hours for Gunnery Sgt. Thomas Sullivan Sunday afternoon at the T.P. Sampson Chapel of The Acres are open to the public. Monday’s funeral Mass and burial are only open to invited family, friends and dignitaries.
His body arrived at Bradley International Airport in Connecticut on Friday afternoon. Citizens lined streets in Springfield in anticipation of his return.
A vehicle carrying Sullivan’s casket was escorted along Interstate 91.
Sullivan was among five service members killed during an attack on military facilities in Chattanooga last week.
