WATERBURY — The Department of Transportation hopes to hear from the public about the ongoing I-84 widening reconstruction project in Waterbury.
The agency has scheduled a “public listening session” on Aug. 1 at the Brooklyn Baking Co. in Waterbury. The event will run from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Members of DOT’s public information team will be available to talk with residents.
The I-84 project involves the widening and addition of a third lane and full-width shoulders in each direction. It also includes safety improvements to a 2.7-mile segment of the busy highway, from Washington Street, east to Pierpont Road in Waterbury.
The project includes construction and replacement of eight highway bridges, a pedestrian bridge, seven culvert and 20 retaining walls. Traffic signals, signs and utilities are also being replaced and upgraded.
