WEST HARTFORD - The Connecticut-based charity Jane Doe No More hosted a self-defense class today to kick off its Run for a Reason campaign for the Hartford Marathon.

The four-hour class consisted of escape strategies, physical training and skills practice geared towards women and girls over 15 years old.

The non-profit hosted 50 runners and raised $10,000 in recent years.

Vanessa Barneschiwill be one of the team captains. Barneschi is known as the "West Hartford Jogger"

She was attacked and raped while on her morning jog in October of 2010.

Barneschi continues to speak about her experience in hopes of inspiring victims to come forward and end their silence.
