SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — A Springfield woman has been held without bail after pleading not guilty to a murder charge in the 2014 shooting of a Connecticut man.

The Republican reports that 35-year-old Doris Pessolano was also arraigned Wednesday on a charge of conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni asked the judge to impound information on the case, which was granted and not opposed by Pessolano’s attorney.

Police say 38-year-old Demarcus Johnson, of East Hartford, Connecticut, was shot in the head on Sept. 7 in Springfield. He was found on the ground next to his car at about 5 a.m. He died at the hospital days later.

The killing happened near two churches and shocked neighbors.

Gulluni did not disclose the relationship between Pessolano and Johnson.
