EAST HARTFORD - In the shadow of Pratt and Whitney Stadium in East Hartford 650 girls are taking part in the United States Specialty Sports Association Fastpitch National Championship.
The 44 teams from Maryland to Rhode Island and as far away as Illinois and several from Connecticut are split in two divisions twelve and under and sixteen and under.
For the Players this tournament culminates a years worth work and sacrifice and represents the ultimate sign of accomplishment.
The participants started the week on Monday with opening ceremonies at New Britain Stadium with the Rock Cats The tournament runs through Saturday when a champion will be decided.
