GLASTONBURY — UConn basketball coach Kevin Ollie has found a recruiting niche in landing players who already have graduated college, but still have one year of basketball eligibility.

The Huskies this offseason have added two graduate-student transfers who are expected to play major roles next season — guard Sterling Gibbs from Seton Hall, and forward Shonn Miller who graduated from Cornell.

Ollie, speaking before his annual charity golf tournament in Glastonbury, says he likes graduate transfers because they bring a wealth of experience along with their talent.

The Huskies have had success with them in the past. R.J. Evans came over from Holy Cross for the 2012-13 season and Lasan Kromah was a role player on the 2013-14 national championship team after transferring from George Washington.
