EAST HAVEN--  A male and female were found dead Monday night after suffering apparent gunshots wounds in East Haven.

Police responded to a home on Foxon Boulevard around 9:30 p.m. after being approached by a man expressing concern for a relative inside. Police entered the second-floor apartment to find the scene, which a source says was a murder-suicide.

A woman who said she was the sister of the female victim said her sister left behind three children, ages 13, 8 and 1. She identified her sister as Ingrid Delrio.

“She was a happy girl, a happy mom, a happy sister,” said Evelyn Delrio, one of six siblings of Ingrid Delrio.

Evelyn said Ingrid lived with her boyfriend of 11 years, who is the other person that was found dead. She also confirmed none of the three children were home at the time of the shooting.

Evelyn came from the Bronx to visit her sister two weeks ago.

“She was so excited when I came,” said Evelyn. “She told all the family ‘oh, Evelyn’s coming, Evelyn’s coming’. So, we had a good time. That was the last time I saw her.”

Evelyn says the other fatal gunshot victim was her sister’s boyfriend, who she knew only as Billy. She said he always kept to himself. “The last time I stayed in this house, he was in their room and I never saw his face,” said Delrio.

Ingrid was planing to  move to Florida with her children, according to her sister, but not her boyfriend.

The incident has left those who knew Ingrid, and those who didn't shocked.

“Really, it’s a very nice area, with families and nice schools,” said Bryan Hill, a newspaper deliveryman in the area who is from North Haven. “Then, not too long ago, we had the incident up the road with the death of the children.”

That incident, in which East Haven mother Leroya Moore was charged with killing her two children with an overdose of antihistamines in June, took place less than a mile from the Foxon Boulevard incident, which police will speak more about Wednesday morning at 10.

If anyone has information regarding this incident, you are asked to contact the East Haven Police Detective Division at 203-468-3820.
