Nothing found after Hartford river search

HARTFORD – Fire crews searched the Connecticut River near downtown Hartford Thursday morning after a report of a swimmer in distress.

A driver on the highway called in a report of a swimmer in distress at 7:52 a.m.according to the Hartford Fire Department.

Crews entered the water at Riverside Park located north of the city and searched the area between the Bulkeley Bridge and the Charter Oak Bridge. They searched as far south as Wethersfield Cove and did not find anything, said officials.

The fire department also said kayakers in the area did not see anyone in distress.

Crews left the scene aft 9 a.m.
