BLOOMFIELD -- Community members searching for a missing Hartford woman found a body on Granby Street in Bloomfield Tuesday morning, according to Hartford Police.

Tuesday afternoon, Tashauna Jackson's family tentatively identified the body as their loved one. However, a positive identification needs to be confirmed by the office of the chief medical examiner.

"We were expecting a different outcome, but we were preparing. I don't think we could have prepared for this outcome," said Jackson's aunt Ana Perez.

Tuesday morning, friends and family searched Keney Park for Tashauna, but she was found just under three miles away in Bloomfield.

Police have since located the man with whom Jackson was last seen, as well as his car. The car was seized and police say they’ve interviewed the man several times.

Hartford Police Department Deputy Chief Brian Foley says the investigation is very active and ongoing, but he says police do not think the public is at risk at this time. Witnesses are being interviewed by police. They're also investigating how members of the search party knew to look in this particular spot in Bloomington.

"That's obviously a question we had immediately," said Foley.

Bloomfield Police are leading the investigation. The Connecticut State Police Major Crimes Unit was also on scene.

Mayor Pedro Segarra released a statement on the discovery of the body:

The loss of Tashauna Jackson, a young mother, is nothing short of a tragedy and my heartfelt sympathies go out to her young child, her family and her friends. Our law enforcement will work cooperatively and diligently to investigate the cause of her death and provide her family with answers.

Anyone with any information of this incident is asked to contact the Bloomfield Police Department 860-242-5151.
