Vermont police continue search for missing Connecticut woman

Denise Hart, of Hartford, Connecticut, was last seen leaving a friend’s home in Sudbury, Vermont on Jan. 25. She was 24 when she went missing, but would be 25 now.

The next day the car was found burning near at a fishing access in Cornwall, Vermont, which is by Otter Creek.

Police say they suspect foul play.

On Tuesday, an area of the Otter Creek and surrounding shore was searched by 20 people from Leicester to Cornwall. The search was conducted Tuesday because the water is at its lowest level in the creek since Hart’s disappearance, making it easier to search the area.

Searchers were from the Vermont State Police Department’s Scuba Team, Marine Division, Search and Rescue Division and K-9 Division.  The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department also participated in the search.

In a statement distributed by the state police, Hart’s mother Dedre Robinson urged anyone with information about her daughter’s disappearance to come forward.

PLEASE! Anybody with information about the disappearance of Denise Hart, can you please come forth? We know somebody out there knows something. Her family and friends are missing her desperately. She has missed so much. She has two brand-new nephews she hasn’t even met yet, and she’s missed her nieces and nephews birthdays. Her own son 4th birthday is coming up in a few days and she is not home. We don’t have any answers. It has been almost 8 long hard desperate months. We just want some answers – please! If anybody knows or has seen anything please say something. Thanks you. Her son needs her mother back.

Robinson says it’s been “almost eight long, hard desperate months” and her family is looking for answers.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Sgt. Julie Scribner at 802-388-4919.
