Search for Tashauna

BLOOMFIELD --Wednesday morning police in Bloomfield confirmed Tashuana Jackson's family's worst fears. They identified the body found Tuesday morning as Jackson's.

On Tuesday, Bloomfield Police responded to the address of 52 Granby St., behind Saba Live Poultry, after someone found a body in the woods. The body was badly decomposed.

What led the search to the slaughter business is unclear, and many wonder why the person who killed her would dump her body about 30 feet into the woods behind the building.

The body found was officially identified by the medical examiner as Tashauna Jackson, 23. Jackson had been reported missing in Hartford on August 12.

She was last seen August 11 around 11 p.m. in the company of a male, and was seen entering his vehicle of her own free will.

Bloomfield detectives continue to work with the Hartford Police Department investigating the circumstances of this death. Family members say police are close to an arrest, but police couldn't confirm that.

Tuesday afternoon, Tashauna Jackson's family tentatively identified the body as their loved one.

"We were expecting a different outcome, but we were preparing. I don't think we could have prepared for this outcome," said Jackson's aunt Ana Perez.

Tuesday morning, friends and family searched Keney Park for Tashauna, but she was found just under three miles away in Bloomfield.

Police have since located the man with whom Jackson was last seen, as well as his car. The car was seized and police say they’ve interviewed the man several times.

Hartford Police Department Deputy Chief Brian Foley says the investigation is very active and ongoing, but he says police do not think the public is at risk at this time. Witnesses are being interviewed by police. They're also investigating how members of the search party knew to look in this particular spot in Bloomington.

"That's obviously a question we had immediately," said Foley.

Bloomfield Police are leading the investigation. The Connecticut State Police Major Crimes Unit was also on scene.

Anyone with any information of this incident is asked to contact the Bloomfield Police Department 860-242-5151.
