6-year-old girl killed after being struck by truck in Ansonia

ANSONIA – Police are investigating after a young girl was killed in a crash.

Around 4:45 p.m. Ansonia Police received reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a car on Ford Street, near Hughes Circle.

When police relived they found the 6-year-old girl. Neighbors were with her and caring for her while waiting for first responders.

The girl was taken to the hospital, and was later pronounced dead.

According to police, the girl was from Ansonia and was visiting a friend at the time of the accident. She was in a small plastic wagon that rolled into the road, where the wagon was hit by the truck.

A 54-year-old male driver from Ansonia was driving the truck that hit the girl.

Neither name is being released. Police continue to investigate the incident and have not yet determined a cause, and no charges have been filed at this time.
