HARTFORD–A Hamden man has been arrested after police say he called in a bomb threat to a downtown Hartford building.
Around 4:50 p.m. an intake insurance specialist at Access Health CT answered a phone call, and the caller repeatedly asked for the address to the building that the state’s health exchange is located in. When the specialist asked the caller why he was interested, and what he wanted to send, he said “a bomb” and hung up.
Officers responded to Access Health, which is in the Prudential Financial Building located at 280 Trumbull St., as did a supervisor. They listened to the recording of the call.
It was quickly determined that there was no immediate threat, according to police, and the caller’s address was determined using his phone number.
Officers contacted the suspect, identified as Gary Leiderman, 64, of Hamden, at his home in Hamden, and he was arrested and brought to Hartford Police, where intelligence detectives interviewed him.
Liederman was charged with threatening in the first degree and breach of peace in the second degree. Bond was set at $75,000.
