HAMDEN – Police arrested a 19-year-old for assaulting a Quinnipiac University student.
Sunday Okoro works with a moving company that was doing work at Quinnipiac Saturday.
Police said Okoro got into an altercation with a female student that turned physical when he pushed her and threw her to the ground.
School public safety officers detained him until Hamden Police arrived.
Okoro was charged with third-degree assault, second-degree unlawful restraint, and breach of peace.
He was held on $2,500 bail and has a court date Sept. 3 at the Meriden courthouse.
The university released a statement that said:
“The university would like to recognize the swift response of the university’s public safety department, which resulted in the suspect being subdued shortly after the incident occurred and held until the Hamden Police Department arrived to arrest him.”
The University also added that there were no serious injuries reported.
