PUTNAM--State police continue to dig around for clues at a Putnam landfill that has been linked to the missing couple from Easton.

A worker at the Putnam Ash Residue Landfill said 25 to 30 detectives have been on site since last week searching for clues to find Jeffrey and Jeanette Navin.

The landfill receives ash from an incinerator in Bridgeport.

Jeffrey Navin owns J&J Refuse, a garbage company.

Family reported the couple missing August 7.

State police searched the Bridgeport home of their son, Kyle Navin, last week.  He is listed as the operations manager on the website for J&J Refuse.

The landfill now appears to be the focus of foul play.

"They’re digging up stuff that was dumped a while ago," Dan Eldridge, a landfill worker, said.  When asked how deep are investigators digging, Eldridge said, "This is a guestamate, probably 30, 40 feet."

The Connecticut Post reports police discovered a bullet hole and blood in one of the Navins' vehicles.
