WEST HARTFORD - Emergency crews are still working on removing a truck that tipped over Wednesday and killed a worker on a ramp to I-84.

Three wreckers were at the scene around noon on Thursday, at the I-84 Exit 43 entrance ramp to help remove the "snooper" truck. The truck had a crane on it and was parked to do work around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, when the unit became unbalanced and tipped over. That left the front cabin dangling in mid-air and resulted in the death of William Shook of Middlefield.

A crane is expected to remove the truck later Thursday.

The  West Hartford fire department was on the scene Thursday, in case of fire from the residual hydraulic fluid.

Shook, 43, was employed by McClain and Company of Virginia, a company subcontracted by GM2, which Connecticut employs for bridge inspections.

This is the second incident involving a McClain and Co. contractor truck this week. On Tuesday,  the crane on a similar truck got stuck with a crew in it under the Gold Star Bridge that connects New London and Groton.

Due to the recent incidents, CT DOT has ordered that no trucks or personnel from McClain and Co. be used for any state work, effective immediately.
