Buildings in Denver, Colorado and Jersey City, New Jersey were imploded Saturday morning.

A group of 62-year-old Jersey City public housing buildings was successfully demolished Saturday after the city and developers deemed the three vacant buildings an eyesore.

The implosion of the three former public housing buildings will make way for a mixed income, affordable senior housing community.

The demolition of Montgomery Gardens  took place at 9 a.m. Saturday.

The vacant University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver was imploded early Saturday morning.

Roads were shut down for several hours for the implosion which happened around 10 a.m. EDT.

The implosion will make way for a $419 million redevelopment project that will include residential, retail establishments, offices and open space.
