HARTFORD — A woman was tied up in a home invasion Saturday night, but the burglars apparently busted in to the wrong home.

A woman was home alone Saturday night in her Edgewood Street apartment in Hartford when she head banging on her door. Five men forced open the door, rushed into the apartment and yelled “Hartford police,” detectives said.

They ordered the victim to the ground and they tied her up on the floor, police said.

Then, after looking around, the men apparently said they were in the wrong apartment, according to police.

The men stole the victim’s cellphone and ran off, police said.

An apartment next door was later burglarized that night while the tenant was not at home, Hartford police said.

The five men are on the loose. Police describe all the men as black, wearing masks with handguns.
