HARTFORD — Police are investigating a late night home invasion in Hartford.

It happened Saturday night on Tredeau Street where investigators said a man was forced into his home by the suspects.

Police say the man was the owner of a local business and suspects targeted him as he arrived home with cash at around 11 p.m.

Suspects pushed the man inside of his home. Then the homeowner shot two of the home invaders after a scuffle, police said.

Police said the homeowner has a licensed pistol permit and will not face charges.

The critically injured suspects are now in custody, after being taken to Hartford Hospital.

The homeowner had minor injuries. A woman and child who were home when the two men broke in weren’t injured.

Police said they are still investigating what happened and if more suspects may have been involved.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
