NORWICH – On Sunday morning just after 9 a.m. police stopped a motor vehicle on North Thames Street in Norwich for a number of violations. After pulling him over, police found the driver to be in illegal possession of a loaded .45 caliber handgun and oxycodone for which he had no prescription.

Christopher A. Arsenault, 30, of Sandy Lane in Norwich, a previously convicted felon, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, possession of a firearm without a permit, criminal possession of a firearm, violation of a protective order, operating a motor vehicle under suspension, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, reckless driving and failure to obey a stop sign.

He was held on $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at Norwich Superior Court on Tuesday.
