HARTFORD -- The Hartford Police Department is investigating the city's 25th homicide of 2015 Monday morning. Police say they were called to Greenfield Street around 10 p.m. Sunday.

ShotSpotter technology detected three gunshots and someone called 911, according to police. Someone drove the victim to St. Francis Hospital in a car before police arrived at the scene. Police say he was shot in the face and stomach. He was pronounced dead just after 10:15 p.m.

Police identified the victim as Steve Vorise, 34. His last known address was the Greenfield Street address where he was shot.

Hartford is at the top of the list in New England as the city with the most homicides. Just under a week ago, two people were killed about eight hours apart in Hartford.

In all of 2014, 19 people were killed in Hartford.

Hartford city officials say they are working with the State Department of Justice to address the spike and add more police officers.
