NEW HAVEN — Residents and property owners in parts of the Fair Haven area in New Haven will lose power on Sunday, Sept. 27.
The United Illuminating Company (UI) has scheduled two power outages to upgrade its electric system in the Fair Haven neighborhood.
One power outage is scheduled from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. that will affect 678 customers and a second outage affecting 20 customers is planned from 6 a.m. to noon.
The streets affected by the outages include: Brewery Square, Chambers Street, Chapel Street, East Pearl Street, Exchange Street, Ferry Street, Front Street, Grand Avenue, Houston Street, Pierpont Street, Poplar Street, Saltonstall Avenue, and Wolcott Street.
Customers on these streets were informed of the outages by mail.
These power outages are among several scheduled by UI for its project to decommission the Fair Haven Substation. The company also says the electrical system upgrade will improve service in the area.
The outage will be rescheduled if there are severe weather conditions.
