HARTFORD--Volunteers set out in Hartford on Friday for a good cause.

Nearly 100 employees from Untied Healthcare showed up at Soldier's Field at Northwood Cemetery in Hartford to clean off thousands of veterans' headstones. It was all part of the annual Day of Caring, a program hosted by United Way in partnership with Family Day Foundation's Keney Park Sustainability Project, Friends of Keney Park and the city of Hartford.

About 5,000 veterans are buried in the cemetery, some of which have been there since the late 1800s.

The cleaning was a way to prep for Veteran's Day, and is an ongoing effort. In the picture below, you can see the difference that a cleaning earlier this year made.
