MERIDEN – Four people were taken to the hospital after an accident on route 15 northbound just before exit 68NE early Friday afternoon.

An adult and an infant were taken by LifeStar to Hartford Hospital after the four-car crash, according to state police.

The crash occurred just before 1:45 p.m. Two cars were involved in a minor accident in the right-center lane and a third car, a 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser, stopped due to the crash. That car was rear-ended by a truck, resulting in a collision that caused a chain-reaction.

Also injured was Latoya Fraser Andrews, 37, of West Hampstead, N.Y., who was driving one of the cars involved in the first crash, as part of the subsequent chain-reaction collision.

The driver of the other car, Sean P. O’Grady, 33, of Keystone, CO, and the truck, Christopher Striase, 37, of Pompton Plains, NJ, were uninjured. The highway was shut down for several hours.
