HARTFORD–Police announced that they found a woman they had been searching for all day.

On Tuesday, at 10:08 a.m., Hartford Police responded to a Collins Street home on reports that a 4-year-old girl had been found wandering alone. It was revealed that a person was driving down the street and saw the child.

The girl was identified as Shafyalya Nicks, 4, and police were able to determine which home was hers, however, no one was home in the apartment. Police determined that a person named Shi’day Nicks, 22, lived at the apartment based on the mail, and neighbors said she had just moved in.

Police announced at 4:30 p.m. that they were searching for the girl’s family, as well as Shi’day.

At 8:45 p.m. police announced that they had found Shi’day in Hartford, and that she was being interviewed by detectives. While the incident is under investigation, Deputy Chief Brian Foley said police will likely arrest her.

Shi’day Nicks previously lived on Orange Street in Springfield, Massachusetts and 23rd Street in Meridian, Mississippi, which police announced while searching for her as possible locations could travel to.
