HARTFORD — One of three men facing trial has pleaded guilty to reduced charges in connection with the shooting deaths of two victims.

Thirty-six-year-old Leida Franqui and her boyfriend, 27-year-old Luis Rodriguez, were gunned down in the early morning hours of Oct. 14, 2009 in Hartford.

The Hartford Courant reports prosecutors offered Luis Quintero a plea deal on Thursday calling for two murder charges against him to be reduced to conspiracy to commit murder. He will serve 11 years behind bars and five years of probation.

Quintero previously turned down an offer of 40 years behind bars. His attorney said Thursday his client, who was facing a 140-year sentence, received a good deal.

Luis Quintero, 32, of Hartford, is scheduled to go to trial next, while 36-year-old Josue Burgos, of Plainville, is also charged, but a date hasn’t been set for his trial.
