The parade is set for Sunday, Nov. 8, in Hartford. Organizers are also urging veterans, active military personnel, marching bands and others to register to march in the parade.

Kristin Beth Ferris, the coordinator for this year's state parade, joined Fox CT to discuss the parade and the need for volunteers.

An estimated 3,000 people marched in last year's parade, while thousands more lined the streets.

This year's grand marshals are Joseph Perkins of Niantic, a retired Connecticut Army National Guard brigadier general and Marine Corps veteran; Orlando Anderson of Manchester, an Army veteran and National Guard member; Navy veteran Emily Trudeau of Cheshire; Air Force and Navy veteran Kristopher Perry of Storrs; and Marine Corps veteran Paul Segarra of Berlin.
