NEW BRITAIN–A local restaurant is giving back to one of its own after a tragedy earlier this week.

On Tuesday, 11-year-old Cade Townsend Jr. was killed in a house fire on East Street.

His father, Cade Townsend III, is a chef at J. Timothy’s Tavern in Plainville, and the restaurant announced on its Facebook page that it established a GoFundMe page for the family, who also lost all their belongings in the devastating blaze.

The goal is to raise $8,000, and in the first day nearly $5,000 was raised.

The restaurant also says it will soon start collecting clothing and non-perishable food for the family as well.
