HARTFORD -- A Hartford family was starting their day Thursday morning when they made a shocking discovery.
After safely putting it in a cage, Hartford police and animal control tried to determine what kind of snake it is and where it came from. Deputy Chief Brian Foley said it could be a ball python or a boa constrictor.
The family, who lives on Deerfield Ave, had no idea how the snake got in their house.
Hartford police later tweeted "the snake has a name."
Bertha belongs to a home on Lenox Street, which intersects with Deerfield Ave. The owner tells police he didn't realize Bertha was missing until he saw it on the news.
Bertha traveled about .2 miles on her great adventure.
