Man shot and killed, found in car in New Haven near Edgewood Pond Park

NEW HAVEN--Police are investigating a homicide that occurred Thursday evening.

New Haven Edgewood Pond Park homicideThe incident occurred on Chapel Street near the intersection of Ella T. Grasso Boulevard, around 7:40 p.m. That is near Duck Pond in Edgewood Pond Park.

Antoine Heath, 29, of West Haven, was found in his parked car and had been shot in the torso, according to New Haven Police Officer David Hartman, the public information officer for the department.

Police are searching for the suspect, who is considered armed and dangerous, though they say the shooting wasn't random and the victim was targeted. K-9 units are helping with searching the park--which is closed off--and nearby areas.

Police say that different witnesses provided different descriptions of the suspect, and while one said he or she fled into the park, another said the suspect fled in a dark-colored sedan.
