WEST HARTFORD — A University of Hartford student is facing several charges after police say she threatened two other students by sending them pictures on the social media app Snapchat.

Thursday afternoon, police responded to the school for report of threatening with a firearm. Two UHart students say Holly Salerno, 20, of Fairfield, sent them pictures of another student holding a gun and in the caption naming the two as Victim #1 and Victim #2.

Police say detectives reviewed the photos and issued an arrest warrant for Salerno. She turned herself into police on Saturday afternoon.

“In light of the recent gun violence across the country at different college campuses this matter was taken very seriously,” Sgt. Reginald Early said in a statement.

Salerno is charged with harassment and breach of peace. She was held on $50,000 bond.
