WINSTED–A groom celebrated his bride in a very memorable way on their wedding day.

On October 9, Andrew Meadows married Kelly Kindschi at Crystal Peak in Winsted.

The Durham couple met at Kelly’s grandfather’s 80th birthday party, but Andrew says he was too nervous to get her number.

“I regretted it and begged her family to reach out to her. I had to find her,” Andrew told Fox CT. “Two weeks later we ran into each other at the Durham Fair!”

Andrew proposed to Kelly on April 1, 2013. Yes, April Fool’s Day. “She actually thought it was a joke,” Andrew said.

One year later, on April 1, 2014, Kelly’s mother passed away from stage 4 lung cancer. Andrew said that when his wife-to-be was picking out a song for her father-daughter dance, he knew he wanted to do something special to honor his mother-in-law.

“So I found this song and asked her what she thought about me singing it as a surprise for her dad, and she loved the song and idea! I love country music and am a big fan of Dustin Lynch,” Andrew explained of the song he picked, “Your Daddy’s Boots,” to sing for Kenny Kindschi.

Besides the song, the couple lit a remembrance candle during their ceremony to remember Kelly’s mom. The bride also walked down the aisle to “Mamas Song” by Carrie Underwood.

And in just four days Andrew’s singing chops have gotten some pretty big praise. The song’s original singer, Dustin Lynch, called Andrew out on his official Facebook page to say he did a great job!

“It felt amazing and I was extremely honored,” Andrew said of the recognition. He said he’s “always wanted to pursue a singing career, but never took that further step.”
