HARTFORD – On Friday, Mayor Pedro Segarra accepted the resignation of Director of Development Services Thomas Deller, effective October 31, 2015.

Hill will serve as Acting Director of Development Services and preparation for the transfer of workflow and projects has begun.

“I appreciate and am grateful for all of Thom’s years of service,” said Segarra. “He has worked extremely hard and has led the efforts for several successful projects such as the Intermodal Triangle, Downtown North, Strong Cities, Strong Communities challenge, modernizing our permitting system, initiating the modernization of our zoning code, Coltsville, UConn, and several CRDA developments including 777 Main Street, ‘Sonesta’, and Capewell. Given recent events, however, I believe he has made the right decision for him and for the City of Hartford.”

The recent events Seggara is referring to might be allegations of overspending on Dillon Stadium.

Deller’s department approved payments of more than $1.8 million to Premier Sports Management Group, which was working to redevelop Dillon Stadium for professional soccer.

Police are investigating allegations the city was overbilled. Deller previously said he did not know how much they were overbilled, but it was a large number.

Deller has been on the job since 2012.
