NEWINGTON–Police have made an arrest after the Newington Police Department and New Britain Superior Court received violent threats.

On September 18, a man made violent threats against members of both the department and the court.

The suspect, Vishal R. Bhatt, 26, of Newington, left Connecticut after allegedly making the threats, but returned to the state on Thursday.

Bhatt was served an arrest warrant around 4:45 p.m. Thursday after a traffic stop.

He was charged with breach of peace, criminal violation of a protective order and threatening. He is being held on a $150,000 bond.

Bhatt has had several convictions dating back to 2008 and has several criminal cases pending for a variety of charges, including disorderly conduct, threatening, breach of peace, resisting arrest, violation of a protective order, violation of probation, possession of marijuana and evading the scene.
