HARTFORD-- Halloween is just around the corner, and that means trick or treaters will soon be out walking to door-to-door, and a new PSA is reminding driver to stay safe this holiday.

Recently, the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association and the state Department of Transportation released a 30-second PSA reminding people to be extra cautious when driving on Halloween night.

A number of various costumed characters pop into the screen during the spot, warning motorists to be aware of the increased number of children on the streets, and to not speed through neighborhoods or to drink and drive.

The final scene features a message that comes on screen reading "Drive Scary Safe."

"Often times we see PSA's for distracted drivers, seat belts for distracted driving, but his was kind of an unique opportunity we had on Halloween to send this message across," said Gary MacNamara, Fairfield Police chief.

MacNamara says the PSA will air on television and radio stations in Connecticut leading up to Halloween night.
