HARTFORD -- Atticus is a two-and-a-half-year-old Belgian Malinois/Chesapeake Retriever Mix. This guy is super smart, a real “working dog.” Atticus is active, but has great self-control. He knows when it’s time to be active, and when to chill.
He loves to learn and will take to training to training for anything. Malinois are typically used for police work these days, because they are so driven and smart. But Atticus started out as a family dog, until he had to be surrendered to a local pound when the living situation could no longer accommodate him.
He’s good with kids, good with cats, and good with other dogs. He can be a family dog, but will need to be engaged; he won’t accept sitting off in the corner or left in the yard.
He wants to work, whether that’s actually a job, or a fun activity, like agility, to keep him occupied. He would excel with a person who wants a dog to be a focus in their life, as a hobby or active companion.
