MONROE – A statue of Jesus that was stolen from a Monroe store that sells religious items and artifacts has been returned, according to the shop’s Facebook page.
The five-foot tall statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, valued at $600, was stolen from the decorative rose garden area in front of Angels & Company on Main Street sometime Tuesday after 6:45 p.m. It was noticed to be missing at around 9:30 Wednesday morning.
The statue was donated months ago by a woman who had to give up her home and go to an assisted living facility.
The store owners, Midge Saglimbene and Linda Schirrillo, were alerted to the theft when a friend called them after store hours. They were upset and filed a report with police.
