HARTFORD — A real estate research group says single-family home sales jumped more than 24 percent in September, the strongest September in nine years.

The Warren Group said Thursday that 2,919 single-family homes sold, up from 2,346 in September 2014.

But median home prices fell slightly, to $244,400 in September, from $248,000 in the same month last year. It’s the fifth consecutive month of year-over-year sales price declines.

Tim Warren Jr., chief executive officer of The Warren Group, said that in seven of the nine months this year, home sales have jumped by double-digits. He said home buyers are eager to take advantage of low prices and reduced interest rates.

Condo sales in September totaled 805, up nearly 23 percent from September 2014. Median sales prices rose 5.2 percent, at $175,740.
