Low gas prices

HARTFORD — The cost of gasoline in Connecticut is on the rise.

AAA Northeast reported Monday that its weekly survey found self-serve, regular gas selling for an average of $2.29 per gallon, up 2 cents from last week.

That’s 7 cents higher than the national average of $2.22, which represents the lowest price for this date since 2006, AAA said.

The nonprofit roadside assistance organization says despite the recent uptick, the average price of gas in Connecticut is on a downward trend that is expected to continue through year’s end.

Gas prices in the state are down 67 cents per gallon from this year’s June peak.

Drivers can find the cheapest gas on the route they’re driving using AAA’s app.
