Several injured in serious 4-car crash on Dixwell Avenue in Hamden

HAMDEN--Four cars were involved in a crash in Hamden on Wednesday night.

The crash happened near 2165 Dixwell Ave., in front of the shopping plaza, around 8:30 p.m. The road was closed between Skiff Street and Connelly Parkway as police investigated the crash. It has since reopened.

It was initially reported that five cars were involved, but police were mistaken.

Hamden Police say that eight people were injured--five adults and three children--and that three of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries. At least one victim needed to be extricated. Injuries included head trauma and broken bones.

The other five victims did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
