NEW BRITAIN — Three officers were injured after being assaulted by an 18-year-old woman.

According to police, officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance on Chestnut Street shortly before 7 p.m. on Friday. When officers arrived, they found 18-year-old Marisol Ortiz arguing with her parents.

When an officer began to talk to one of the parents, Ortiz began to yell loudly. Officers attempted to control Ortiz, when she pulled a knife from under her shirt.

Ortiz lunged at one officer, stabbing him in the leg. Ortiz resisted letting go of the knife while officers tried to subdue her.

During the scuffle, one officer was stabbed in the thigh, one was cut on their hand, and the other was bitten on their hand. All officers were treated and released from the hospital.

Ortiz was charged with three counts of assault on a police officer, assault, and disorderly conduct. She is being held on $500,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
