HAMDEN--A group of high school students in Hamden decided to do their part to make a difference after the terrorist attacks in Paris last week.

The students in the digital media class at the Engineering and Science University Magnet School wanted to raise awareness for what happened.

"How can we heal using digital media and the technology we have and to convey a clear message that we are in support?" Leon Tynes, the department head and teacher, said he asked of his students. And they certainly responded.

"We're calling it 'Look at the World,'" said Alex Figuero, a junior who is in the class. "I think the message of it really is this one thing happened and it's bringing the world together. It's a tragedy, but it's bringing us together."

"We just want to raise awareness for the attacks that happened as a whole," said David Papcin, a senior from Ansonia. Papcin said the attacks really impacted his peers. "I think that we are the upcoming generation, so this is really going to effect us, it's about our future."

The class began the project on Monday, and expects to complete filming by Friday. The video will be about three minutes long, and consist of interviews.

One student who was being interviewed on Tuesday said to the camera, "I was just kind of frustrated and sad. I have a lot of friends who do live in Paris."

The class hopes the video will go viral.

"I want it to effect everyone," Figuero explained. "I want everyone to see it, and say 'this makes me want to make a change in my life.'"

FOX 61 will post a link to the video when it is posted on the school's YouTube page later this week.
