NEW HAVEN–A day after releasing a surveillance photo in hopes of identifying a young man who was killed, police have released his identity.

On Monday, November 16, Devante T. “Breezy” Baker, 21, of New York, was found dead. The shooting happened near 1447 Chapel St., but Baker walked to Sherman Court, where officers found him before 9 p.m.

Though he’s from New York, he has relatives in Connecticut and ties to Bridgeport.

Detectives are investigating whether the victim may have been in an argument with someone just prior to the fatal shooting, but the victim remains unidentified. Investigators believe the image in this story was taken from a surveillance camera on a city bus and shows the victim.

Police are still searching for a suspect.
