ORANGE – Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that happened around 8:15 Saturday morning on Grassy Hill Road (Route 121) near the intersection with Prudden Lane.
A 2008 GMC Envoy had three occupants when it left the roadway and struck a utility pole.
Diane Barbieri, 74, of Waterbury was a passenger and was confirmed dead at the scene.
The remaining two occupants were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Utility crews responded to replace the pole. Traffic was being diverted away from the accident scene onto alternate roads until the investigation was complete.
This incident remains under investigation and is being handled by the OPD Accident Reconstruction Unit.
