The Hartford Police Activity League’s football team, the Wildcats, won the New England regional championship on Sunday after defeating Leominster, Massachusetts 51-7, meaning that the team has qualified for nationals!

The national championships will be played in Kissimmee, Florida, and the team needs some financial assistance to get there. It will cost $35,000 for the team’s airfare, rooms and food,as well as equipment. The team must raise the money by December 5.

The Wildcats are part of the Colonial Youth Football and Cheer League and American Youth Football, and the team operates as a volunteer non-profit organization. It was founded in 2000 as a way to offer opportunities to kids in Hartford. The league offers football and cheerleading for kids aged 5 to 14.

If you’d like to help “make their dreams come true in Florida,” as Hartford Police Deputy Chief Brian Foley put it, you can head over to the team’s GoFundMe page here.
