MANCHESTER – Before thousands of runners hit the road Thursday morning for the Manchester Road Race, hundreds of them took part in a favorite pre-race tradition.

Race organizers and volunteers welcomed around 300 runners to the Manchester Elks Lodge for a pasta dinner Wednesday night. Runners say it’s a way to fuel up and to catch up with other runners.

“It`s great to see everybody that Wednesday night before the big race. It`s just nice to catch up, how our years went, what`s new,” said Travis Gale of Guilford.

It’s available to registered runners as long as tickets last. Most of the room is filled with familiar faces year after year.

“It’s like Thanksgiving. You’re getting the family together. You’re having a meal,” said Manchester Road Race Committee President Dr. Tris Carta.
