HARTFORD — A Hartford man has been found guilty of manslaughter after prosecutors said he ran over and killed a co-worker following a dispute at a bar.
A Superior Court jury deadlocked last week in the case of 25-year-old Jayson Mota-Royaceli. The Hartford Courant reports he was convicted on Monday of first-degree manslaughter.
Mota-Royaceli and 34-year-old Albino Santiago worked together at an asbestos removal company.
Santiago’s body was found on Pope Park Highway on the night of Jan. 31, 2015. Mota-Royaceli walked into police headquarters about two hours later and confessed to running over Santiago.
Mota-Royaceli also was acquitted of a count of tampering with evidence. He is expected to be sentenced on Feb. 9.
